How to get ISP speed?

November 17, 2011 at 08:00:48
Specs: Linux Ubuntu 11.04, 4GB
I'm using ubuntu server ed., 11.04 version with 4 port NIC card in which 3 ISP's (Internet Service Providers) provisioned at different band width were connected to 3 ports and internal LAN is connected to fourth port.
I want to know 3 ISP's speed for every 5 seconds.
Is there any kernal space program to get this and display the message in user space?
Can someone please throw some light on this..

Many thanks..

You'd need some sort of bandwidth monitor. BWM might work.

Seems like 5 seconds is way too much. It will load down your system too much. Test it on the hour or so.

Unless you mean you wish to report the set nic speed which would be ethertool.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Thank you...
I tried using vnstat. Ethertool is good as well.
