You will need to repair Win 7's MBR and be sure '7' partition is active.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392
http://www.ehow.com/how_4836283_rep...

Then boot into '7' and use its program to resize the partition or just make a new partition for data.

I do not have win 7 to verify the above how-to's.

Or just reinstall Win 7 and select all of the hdd.

The easiest solution is to use several drives and a swappable drive caddy like:

X86, that was my original plan after i was abducted into computer programming and software / comp sci courses ( i came to the same conclusion myself years ago)

i solved the current prob w/ laptop by wiping HDD and reinstalling OS

DO I NEED TO REMOVE ANYTHING THAT THE DBN Darik's Boot and Nuke may have left behind??

your name does not appear on my paycheck. Therefore, you are NOT in my chain of command, despite an illusions or delusions you may have to the contrary.

Consider using virtual machines. They are free and easy ways to run dual or more OS's.

thanx jefro but i think i'm gonna quit using machines completely including this piece of plastic junk with chemically treated sand (silicon) IC / uP in it and just stick with what i get paid the most to do instead

thanx all for the aid and assistance to date, and good intentions, .. ... but the road to hell ....

and we just wasted 13 years and accomplished just about nothing worth writing home about so i'm done

no more tek crap for me,

OK, but see VMplayer. It is an easy way to run a second computer for free. VMplayer and others are programs like word or works or any game that runs on windows except what it does is allow you to run a second computer in a Window on your desktop.

I have had 80+ year old people still learning from these forums and you can too. You will have to learn to survive.

:)

Just to clarify; I did find VIABLE solutions to COMPUTER problems on this forum despite all of the bad advice and misdirection. I ignored all of what i was told on this forum and just used what I already knew and learned. However; I know NOTHING about PC's (just general lo level general electronics and microprocessor stuff and some digital electronics theory; so I NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE SOLUTIONS TO MY PC PROBLEMS without the "input" of this forum. SO this forum DEFINITELY HAS MERIT despite its shortcomings. I am just suggesting that there is a better way.LIKE CAPITALISM free markets free trade ,, etc. so you can all make enough money to hire a professional computer tek to fix stuff instead of wasting your time doing it yourself -- and going and doing what YOU WANT TO DO for a living -- and what YOU WANT TO DO for fun and recreation (and doing what is needed and necessary the rest of the time (most of the time)
