i need to reset my laptop computer's password recovery need help i'v been trying to reboot it using Windows disc we did not find a way we even take out a hardware use another one but it still doesn't want to leave the screen of the password options
"i need to know how to remove a bios password" That's not what you originally asked. As stated above, the way to remove a laptop BIOS password is to enter the password, enter the BIOS, & then clear it. If you don't know the password, you're screwed. If this even your laptop?
Your question is poorly worded & contains no punctuation or caps. Plus you listed your OS as Linux & you're posting in the Windows 7 forum. You don't use the Windows disc to recover or clear passwords, you need a 3rd party disc such as:
What particular hardware did you take out and use another one? Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
I think you can do it with a linux live disk. try burning one and then:
Just use GRUB to boot into single user mode / recovery mode.(1) At grub boot screen (after restart)
(2) Select the kernel
(3) Press the 'e' key to edit the entry
(4) Select line starting with the word 'kernel' or 'linux'
(5) Append the letter 'S' (or word 'Single') to the end of the line
(5) Append 'init=/bin/sh' to that line also
(6) press cntrl-X
(7) mount the root filesystem if it isn't already done for you
(8) type 'passwd <enter>' to reset the root password
(8) type 'passwd <user> <enter>' to reset user's password.at least that's how you do it with Linux. you'll have to tweak step 4 to maybe make it work. step 2 would probably be the correct operating system.
oh... you are using Linux. follow as the istructions say.message edited by bmike1
linux os's password locked, trying windows disc to recover?
bad idea.
check the link riider gave you, its a great utility.
try the one bmike said too. follow exactly. you are actually editing the root password through grub.
good luck :)
I tried byt it doesn't work my laptop is Panasonic cf-sx1i need to know how to remove a bios password
Bit late with that essential bit of information. It can be done if you have the password. Otherwise it is deliberately made difficult because it is there to prevent a thief accessing it. Not many people get involved with passwords around here due to our inability to prove ownership. You could try Panasonic.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
bios? did you say, bios?
its done here.
get the PC back to where you bought it. Without you remembering the old password, almost impossible.

"Is this even your laptop?"
big LOL :p :p
as if he would have stolen a laptop from somewhere.
Abram, is the password thing solved?
Maybe its possible like a normal PC to short the link for bios reset near a backup penny cell, with the thing unplugged and laptop battery out.
Means a Google to dismantle laptop to get to the mainboard and locating the header link.though . Only done it with an older PC mobo.
