HDD / OS choice at start-up?

December 21, 2010 at 23:40:17
Specs: Windows Vista SP2, 2.4GHz Quad/4GB
My c drive (500GB) OS is Vista. I've added a d drive (1000GB) and installed Ubuntu (OS) on that drive. How do I create a choice of hdd / OS at start-up?

Choice in Grub or in Windows boot loader? I agree it should have installed grub.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

/etc/grub.conf
or
/etc/lilo.conf

whichever is installed.

Apologies to X86 for clicking the negative icon when you'd taken the trouble to reply but I didn't believe I could use the advice about GRUB2 as I already had it as part of the Ubuntu download and installation. My problem was I couldn't access Ubuntu or GRUB2 because there was no option at start up so my PC just loaded straight to Windows Vista (already on the PC before installing Ubuntu).

Apologies to jefro for same reason but I didn't mind how I got a choice, I just wanted an option to load Ubuntu.

Apologies to dbstreams for same reason but as I had no means of getting into Ubuntu I couldn't enter any code even if I knew where and how to enter it (having never used Ubuntu before)

Elsewhere I read advice to download EasyBCD. I did and edited my MBR and apart from the known 'Loading Lib modules bug' my dual boot now works fine.

Thanks to all for the help.
