You should be able to install gcc using the RedHat software package manager

I use Mandriva Linux here, so I do not know the name or menu location for the RedHat Software Package Manager, but it exists and you should be able to find it in the RedHat Menu System. Pehaps a RedHat user can help with the name and menu location for it . . .

See if gcc is really installed. Do a sudo find -name ./gcc from /
