cd drive not detected ubuntu 10.04

September 3, 2010 at 15:22:57
Specs: Ubuntu 10.04, P4 1.2GHz 526 MB ram
New install. Installed 9.04 from CD using same CD-RW drive. Upgraded to 10.04. Now my system does not see my CD-RW drive. Sometimes I will have an icon present but when I insert a cd it disappears.

Any help appreciated.

From what I've read from it guys, they say it's better to do a fresh install than to try an upgrade. You have to mount the drive, but I don't use Linux, so I can't tell you how to do that. When I used Linux Mint, I just clicked on the drive partition and it mounted.
