Don't simply copy the Ubuntu ISO file to a disk. It needs to be properly burned using the correct software. Try ImgBurn:

Try the Ubuntu CD on a different computer as it may be the CD itself that's faulty or hasn't been created properly.

How old is the computer? specs?

Should run if you follow riider's advice. Burn it on a good qualiy cd/dvd and USE the slowsest burn setting.

If you don't have a burner software then see portable apps for a small free one.
