Specs: ubuntu 12.04, dual core 3.2/8gb
This scanner has worked well with Ubuntu 12.04 and previous version of the OS so confused as to why Ubuntu doesnt like it now. When i opened xsane today at first it didnt find it but a reboot showed it . lsub says it is there. After the reboot it xane was seeing it and simple scan but then it wouldnt preview. I was going to try and use the scanner with my macbook pro but i didnt know the scanner is not known to work with snow leopard :0( Got any suggestions?

Found solution. The usb ports have stopped working and the usb hub doesnt have enough power in it to run the scanner. So has to be plugged into the usb2.o ports not the usb card that has shorted or the hub. I found this out because the printer also didnt like the same things and responded well when when plugged into the usb2.0 onboard ports :0)
