Can porn be downloaded to your media player?

I was told that porn could be downloaded to the media player just by web surfing. (Like my kids just visiting kids sites pbs.org, disney.com, cartoon network... and then Youtube to watch little kid videos. Is this actually true, and if so, I am also wondering why would these porn videos only download on our one main computer and not on my laptop, when I do way more web surfing then the kids.

The internet is no place for children. As to the question, yes it could happen. More likely the major children's places are safe. The problem is that most computers are so wide open any hacker can get to and download anything they want to your system. In many cases only one visit to a porn site or download of a movie or torrent would result in some form of malware or spyware or virus.

Sadly no ISP has been forced to protect content to minors. About time that happens. A parent should the ability to protect without watching over their shoulders. Until that happens you really do have to be in total control. At least you need to fully protect your system and lan wtih as many best practices as you can.

GET an OPENDNS Free Account. YOU can block porn or many categories of time wasters and filth on the internet. Parents can have total control over the Computers cause THEY have the password they choose to the OPEN DNS acct. Even better, they include BOT net protection and Phishing protection. OPENDNS speeds up browsing, you'll notice the difference. The "Family Shield" option in my opinion is lacking in functions. THE normal single free account has more and the 9.95$ for a year VIP account has even better functions. It can even be set up in Either Windows or Ubuntu Linux, no doubt MAC too. They have great Photo example on how to set the router up for it and for each single machine too if needed. They are at opendns.com :0)
