-bash-3.2 terminal in redhat

Specs: Linux
i was working in linux redhat 5.0 , and was running the sample example where the window hanged i restarted and when i looged in as root the files on the desktop disappeared and when i turned on the terminal -bash-3.2 is there i dont know how to bring back to the normal

Normally, you should not work as user root.
I assume, that you were logged in as a normal user in the past.
This user has it's own home directory and also it's own desktop.
Therefore, things strored on the users desktop are not shown, when logged in as user root.
You must log in as this ordinary user, to get the files displayed on you desktop.

i was logged on s a root .. and that is something not understandablee that sucha thing is happening

Have you searched the roots home directory for such files?
Maybe you have moved the files accidentally.

Run startx and see the errors or error log file

Seems to be this is a dupe post of some other forum.
