I don't think this is an operating system message. Check the cables and connections to the hard disk.

Check if your hard disk drive is the first boot device in BIOS. If not, make it the first boot device. Sometimes, you make removable media such as diskette drive, USB flash drive, etc. the first boot device in BIOS and you do not have a bootable media in one of these attachments. For example, you have a diskette drive as the first boot option and you do not have a bootable diskette in the drive when you start your computer. This gives you "OS not found" message when you start your computer.

If hard disk drive is the first boot device and you have the message, then you have to repair the boot sector of your hard disk. Then do as princecorum said.

Check wether the partition, where your OS is installed to, is set to active state.
