Yahoo messenger for iPhone(s): is it now a lemon?

Specs: IOS, .../lots...
Anyone managed to get the latest version yahoo messenger for iPhones to work properly? The latest version in the apps store is dated 2016.

I tried it on my iPhone 5s; it loads OK - and that's about all compared to previous version(s). I did a straight download/install routine as per the Apps store.

It doesn't retain or display contacts lists (from a previous version) - it does ask to import "all" your contacts on your iPhone... Unlike previous messenger it doesn't simply keep your messenger (only) contacts list. It now requires your dig through your entire phone book/contacts each time you wish to message someone; unless you haven't cleared the last chat session you had with that individual.

Your list of approved contacts yahoo messenger (a base part of previous versions) simply doesn't exist anymore; as I say above you have to trawl through the entire imported contacts list from your iPhone's contacts...

There doesn't appear to be an option to sign in invisible... It doesn't retain your login/password info on the login screen.

None of the previous preferences/settings are available for personal choice/selection.

Or am I missing something in the setup etc?

Fortunately I have retained the previous version installed; and working...; and that has all the features considered basic to it...

So have I the "latest" all singing 'n dancing version which is missing everything one needs/prefers; and the previous version is occasionally inclined to double post messages in either direction..; and even to Buzz the other party randomly - even though the option is switched off..

With the numerous other apps available, Yahoo! Messenger lost its appeal. I guess yahoo is trying to get it in line with more popular apps.
