I recently got an iPod touch, and after setting it up,
the next day I tried plugging it into my PC, to charge
it. But the PC crashed, the screen went black and it
started to reboot, if I left the iPod plugged in, it would
continue to reboot. I've plugged in my previous iPod
(3G iPod Nano) and that doesn't crash the PC. And
I've re-installed iTunes and uninstalled and updated
the drivers, but I just don't know what to do anymore!
There might be some drivers on the apple website to download, I would check out some drivers for an iPOD touch. This is one of the many flaws in the Windows OS. The worst part is windows never fixes them for everything. Have you tried on a mac, the iPOD might work better on a mac.
That isn't normal behavior. My wife and I both have the 2G Touch and they don't crash XP. Have you checked the event viewer for errors? Try plugging it in while iTunes is running and see if that makes a difference. If you already do this, try plugging it in while iTunes isn't running.
Any time I plug it in, if iTunes is on or off, it crashes the
computer.. :(
WAIT, I've managed to fix it!
I downloaded a new "USBAAPL.SYS" file, which is the iPod
driver, and deleted an old Logitech webcam driver in the
"C:\Windows\system32\drivers" folder, and I plugged the iPod
touch in and it worked fine!
YAY! :D
Great ,glad you got it sorted out. Happy iPoding.
