Solved Why Jailbreak in iPhone 5?

Specs: iOS 6.1.4, 16G
I've heard ad nauseam that, with a jailbroken iPhone 5, you can run all sorts of "background apps," but . . . what exactly does that mean, and what other benefits would one realize when one jailbreaks one's iPhone 5? Currently running iOS 6.1.4, but soon to upgrade to iOS 7.

Thanks in advance!

Jailbreaking your phone can make it do all sorts of things that it can't do now. Do a Google search for Cydia, and look at the results.

On the downside, it can possibly brick your phone. And sometimes it's irreparable. It can also open you up to getting viruses on your phone. It will also void your warranty, and Apple won't help you if your phone stops working. Many people really like the benefits of a jailbroken phone, you just have to weigh the positives against the negatives and make your call.

When iOS 7 comes out, installing it will unjailbreak your phone and it ususally takes a couple months for someone to jailbreak the new iOS.
