Sound issues with my iPad 5 - Very Strange

Specs: What is OS
Very strange - I can hear the background music from the TV show, but no dialogue, both from my own downloaded stuff and from shows on Crackle. Also, when I tried to listen to actual music, I could hear the music very well, but the vocals were barely audible.

Any ideas? This is making me crazy.

Is this happening through the speaker or headphones? First try resetting your iPad. Hold down the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, if you see a message telling you to swipe to turn off, ignore it keep holding the buttons until you see the apple.

If that doesn't work, take a pair of headphones and plug and unplug them rapidly for about ten times. this may clean the contacts in the jack.

Here's the nerdy technical reason it's happening. Normally you have a + and - terminal on the left and right channels for the speakers/headphones. It sounds like the headphone jack has malfunctioned and is causing just the + terminal for the left and right channels to be used. This causes phase cancellation and all you are left with is the stereo signal from each channel, any signal that is mono (voices) are cancelled out.
