Removing an inactive icon from my iPad screen

September 11, 2010 at 23:18:58
Specs: Windows XP
I started to download a free app to my just-purchased iPad. I got an error message that the app was too big and had to download it through my computer. But the icon is still on the home screen. How can I get rid of it?

Have you tried restarting the iPad but shutting it down and booting it back up?

Have you tried keeping your finger on that application, waiting till all the icons start jittering and pressing the little red "X" to delete it?

Please let us know what you have tried.

The "waiting" icon does not have an 'x' like other jittering icons, so I don't know how else to delete it. (It got put on my iPad desktop when a free appl didn't install properly.) Thanks for any help to get rid of it.
