Printing from my ipad

March 11, 2013 at 15:13:58
Specs: Windows 7
I have a hp color laser jet that is not airprint capable. Can I still print from my ipad? Apple areas that i searched suggest no, but I was thinking that someone may have a solution.

Thanks,

Bill

hi there
ideally you should have an airprint enabled printer for the best solution
however, loads of people don't and rely on various methods to print from their idevices
i have a new iphone5 and an ipad but a non airprint hp printer
i use the apps print n share and printcentral, i bought these on personal recommendations from friends and these seem to work well
hope that helps a bit!

Hi Bill,

The printer must be AirPrint-capable, however some third-party apps do exist which promise to still print to non-AirPrint-capable printers but your mileage will vary.

Be sure to check for firmware updates to your printer from the manufacturers website, as many manufacturers have been bringing this functionality to printers older than the protocol itself as long as they were made within the last few years. Again though, mileage will vary.

Some apps to look at:
* Printopia allows you to print through your Mac to your printer
* HP ePrint, Epson iPrint, and Lexmark Mobile Printing apps are for their respective brands only, however also may provide further printing capabilities

I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
