Need Drive ltr fpr my usb port

Specs: Windows XP, 2GIG
Trying to restore lost photo images on my Apple Ipod with the Recuva program and my Win XP doesn't display a drive letter for the USB port which I need to proceed. Also when attempting to retrieve the images Recuva gives me this message The Parameter is incorrect. I can view all photos from the Ipod on my PC but I cannot retrieve any using the Recuva program because it asks for the dr LETTER or I get the Parameter is incorrect message. Do you know how to solve this problem or should I just give up?\

Unfortunately the iPod will not work with Recuva as the device will not show up as a drive letter and interfaces with Windows in a way that you can't see the file system.

However there may be alternative methods. When was the last time you synced with iTunes?

I don't know what synced is, I am a moderate beginner with the Ipod. I was wondering if I purchased a memory card reader and pluged it in to my USB port then pluged the Ipod to it and maybe I would then be able to scan the Ipod with Recuva. Anyway thanks for your reply.

Again, no. There is no way you can scan your iPod with Recuva. A card reader won't read an iPod. Apple has locked down the device so it doesn't see any files other than pictures and videos. There is no recycle bin on an iPod so there is no where to recover from. Once the file is deleted, it's gone

Synced is when you connect your iPod to your computer and sync it to iTunes. It transfers your music, pictures, video, etc to the iPod and transfers data back to iTunes.

Well thank you again for your response, but I was wondering why recuva has a specific spot to check off for recuvering images /etc from Ipod"s if it is impossible to recover them.

Good catch, I stand corrected. I've never noticed that option before.

That's why these PC's are so damm confusing nothing is set in stone. . I've used recuva on my PC, Sonny camera, and two USB drives with astonishing results. I've also searched recuva forums with multi solutions for various problems and a few people suggested to get the usb card driver. I even tried to add the drive letter in Disc manager but their was no way this could be accomplished. Unless it's a simple solution I'm not going into the registery or any of that complicated jargon I'll just remember when moving Pictures from my Ipod to my PC to SAVE THEM before deleting them. The Ipod was set to delete them after transfer. You have been kind to try any help with your solutions...Thank you so..Rick70
