Follow these instruction from apple:

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Then plug it back into your computer. If it still doesn't show:

Click Start > Computer (Or My Computer depending on OS) > Look for you iPod as an external drive, It will be like drive E, F, G, etc.

If it isn't there, there is something wrong with either your USB drive, the iPod cable, or the iPod itself. Try borrowing a friends cord to see if that's what's wrong. If still no luck, try plugging it into a friends computer. One of these should help to identify the source of your problem.

If you are still having problems, it might be the iPod itself. You may need to send it into Apple (Assuming they will still fix it, as it's 3 years old) for repairs.

Can I put a question here?
