iPod will not respond to touch

May 16, 2012 at 13:30:39
Specs: Windows ME
I have an ipod touch 32 gb 3rd gen. I need to set it up to use it but it will not respond to touch. I tried a new digitizer but it will stinn not work. It does connect to the computer and sync to itunes. I bought this ipod off ebay and the ios had been restored to 5.1 It did not come with a digitizer but I have one. So how can I get this ipod to respond to touch?

I tried restoring it but will not respond. Does the 3rd gen take voice commands? Or mabe I should replace the "port" where the digitizer hooks up to the rest of the ipod? Does any body know what that part is called or how hard it is to replace?

The digitizer will either connect to the wireless chip area or the mother board.

examine which part the digitizer connects to and try to find the part.

The digitizer connects a little to the left of the wifi antenna. But I don't know what the part is called so I dont know how to look it up and replace it.

Thanks, I looked it up on ebay and found the part I need, but that part is for an 8 gb 3rd gen ipod touch and it will not work on my 32gb 3rd gen ipod. Do you know where to get this part for the 3rd generation 32gb ipod touch?

Aren't they both the same, the 8gb uses a different mobo, think antenna are the same, they have to be the same size because of the design.
What part was it, just guessing?
Sorry for the late reply.

I need that part where the digitizer plugges into the ipod and I need that thick cable in the back. I fouond it on ebay for 8gb 3rd gen ipod but the seller said they only work or the 8gb ipod 3rd gen. Look at the link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wifi-Signal...
If you read the description on the itum it says it will not work on the 32 gb.

Yes there are some differences. It looks like it might fit, but then again it looks like it might not.

The 3rd gen 8gb ipod touch uses 2nd gen parts but it uses the 3rd gen 'body' or design.
Maybe thats why it might not work.

Nothing looks weird about the ipod. If I just looked at it for the first time I would say its in mint condision. But it will not respond to touch.

Did the seller on ebay, who sold the ipod, say it came like that or it just happened?

Why don't you try a new screen, that might be the problem.

Found this kit- http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LCD-Scr...

A new digitizer screen or LCD? I have tried 2 different digitizers and that does not fix it.

Forget the screen/digitizer then, back to the other parts look for differences between the 8gb and 32gb ipod touch.

32GB- http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPod...

The second like (the 32 gb) looks just like my ipod. The first like (the 8gb) looks a little different.

They sometimes call the 8gb version a 2nd gen ipod, so you have to look for 3rd gen parts.
