Ipod touch 4th gen battery question

Specs: Windows Vista
Hello all,

I was reading the specs on Apple's website, and it said that the battery takes 4 hours to charge to capacity. I was wondering what charge it starts with to take four hours. Is it from halfway? 20%? Dead? It doesn't really specify.

Thanks in advance.

4 hours seems like an incredibly long time. I think that is probably listing worst case scenario (as listed by their lawyers). Ive had a 2nd generation iPod touch as well as an iPhone 4 and it's never taken longer then an hour and a half to fully charge from completly dead.

Thanks for the response.

Yeah, that's probably it. My dad says to leave it in for the full 4 hours because it says that, even when it's completely full after one.

Stupid lawyers, eh?

Once the device is fully charged, the charging circuit cuts off. There is no reason to leave it plugged in longer.

From Apple's website:
Charging times: Fast charge in about 2 hours (80% capacity), full charge in about 4 hours.

That would indicate if it was completely dead it could take approx. 4 hours. If you aren't completely draining the battery to zero, then it won't take that long.
