iPad 2 Power Ribbon Cable

July 4, 2012 at 21:25:58
Specs: Windows 7, 1024 MB
I was replacing the digitizer in an iPad 2 for a friend tonight when I accidentally cut the ribbon cable to the power button/volume rocker/mute button. I went to order one on Amazon, but I can't seem to find the correct one. The only one I can find looks like this http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images... however I need one that looks like this: http://bayimg.com/EaPJHaadJ (Sorry for my crummy drawing, I can't find even a picture of this cable anywhere). I've looked at it quite a few different ways and I'm pretty sure the one in the first picture is incorrect. The difference is that the first one is sort of a connector while the second is more of a ribbon that connects in a connector.

Any ideas on where I can find this connector? Thanks so much!!!

I'm absolutely positive. The extra bit on the new cable coming off is not what I'm worried about. It's the bit that's NOT there. For some reason the inside of this iPad looks different than all the teardowns online. For instance, http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/... That connector is not even there, the black wire running between the batteries is not there.

Okay, upon further inspection all I can find it part number 821-1151-A. However, I need part number 821-1461-A. This is seen on the cable that I have. Is there anywhere I can just buy knowing the part number? Amazon and eBay don't turn up any results.

That's an awesome site! Unfortunately it doesn't have the part I need. I am convinced this part exists but I can't find any trace of it anywhere on the internet...

Interesting, that might make sense of why it's weird. I haven't found anything yet, and if anyone else can help, please do so. Thanks!

Mine was from Walmart as well. I actually had an Apple Genius look at mine and he was confused because he'd never seen one like this.

I've been in contact with a distributor and he says that he came across a few of the cables. I may be able to get my hands on one, and as soon as he gets back to me I'll let you guys know as well!

I am still looking for this cable. I've been in contact with several distributors and a lot of them are playing cat-and-mouse saying they have the cable then going back on their claims.

t0p0ne- Ive also discovered that its a default because part of the cable it attached to the casing of the digitizer because of the sticky glue they use to keep the screen down.so how ever gentle you are the cable breaks the moment you lift the digitizer up, hope this helps

I’ve been resisting an unresponsive iPhone 4 Home Button for some fourth dimension. Flicking the home button filed or so one of all the 10 clicks. I had a toughened time getting to the home screen or having your undertaking manager to loading. During halftime of last night’s Pats Jets secret plan (Go Pats!) I determined to realize if I could find a fix for it.
