What model is your iPhone?

On My iPhone 6 there is a wee button at the top right corner (on the upper edge of the phone).

I just press that for a second or two and the phone powers down.

If yours won't power down (switch off), or afterwards (having powered down/switched off) it won't switch back on again - properly - might be worth a visit to your local Apple store and ask them to assist/explain?

Also have you backed up your iPhone recently? If not it might be worth to try doing that even at this time; as you may need to recover/rebuild your contacts and other download anon? (Anything you bought from iTunes) will usually be available for you to download again if needs-be; as long as the apps. etc. are still on iTunes.)

✔ Best Answer
If there is no image it could be a hardware fault.

As advised already, best practice would be to connect it to a computer as soon as possible through iTunes and create a backup. Even if there is no screen image on the phone it should be possible as it appears to be functioning otherwise.

Try rebooting your phone by holding down both physical buttons, the home button and power button, simultaneously until (hopefully) the Apple logo appears then release. The phone will reboot itself and hopefully give you back your screen. It usually takes 10 - 20 seconds of both buttons being held at the same time before the reboot occurs so don't release the buttons too early.

If that doesn't work an Apple Store visit will likely be on cards. Make sure you have attempted to back up your phone first though and advise the staff if this was successful.
