Okay. Not sure if it will work but worth a try.

Hold both the power and home buttons on the iPad simultaneously.

Don't release them until you see the Apple logo appear.

Wait for the operating system to reload.

Check Yahoo access.

If you hold both buttons down, you may get the Restore/Recovery option.

What happens if you press and hold the sleep/power button and slide to turn off the iPad?

To put an iOS device into recovery mode or DFU mode it needs to be plugged into a computer with iTunes running. The button press sequence is very similar though.

Beachy, I think you might be getting mixed up with Androids method of putting a device into recovery mode. The process is the same except it includes the volume down toggle in the sequence (on most devices) and doesn't need to be plugged into a computer.

The home + power button is the standard way of rebooting or force restarting (soft reset) an iOS device. It is most helpful however whenever an Apple device freezes, crashes or shows other unusual behaviour. I'm not sure doing this would have helped in the OPs case though. I should have advised closing all open apps first to free up memory first.

Hopefully they return to give their outcome.
