how to make my ipod work again!?

Specs: Windows 7
I was deleting something and my ipod didn't sync right so it shut itself down and when i turned it back on the itunes icon and charging plug icon. I plugged it into my computer but nothing happpend. I'm updating it but a pop up shows now and then so i keep pressing okay. i need help! And what will happen to all my stuff on my ipod touch!

Is this your first time using it? If so, you can easily re-sync it. Plug it back in and try again.

If not, you will need to have backed up your purchases and your data using iTunes. It is entirely possible that you may have wound up with a damaged/dirty filesystem.

To fix this, you will need to:

1) Turn off your iPod.
2) Hold down the power button + the Home button, and after several seconds, release Home. Keep holding down power.
3) iTunes will detect a damaged iPod. Click Restore in the pane that appears.
4) Follow the instructions in the dialog boxes that appear. The restore image is 650 MB--so you will need a fast Internet connection.

Your iPod, when this process is complete, should work again.
