How do I remove a number from my iphone4

Specs: Windows 7
How do you remove a number for your contact list for good on your iphone4, with out it coming up on texting list.

You have to do it separately. Remove the whole contact from your Contacts by selcting it, tap edit then tap the 'delete contact' button at the bottom. Then go into your text messages, tap 'edit' and select each instance of the contact appearing and click 'delete'. iphones store your messages in conversations so you shouldn't have too many to remove.

Unfortunately, as I've found recently, deleting it from the Messages list doesn't delete the number from the texting history. Apparently, this bug will be fixed with iOS 7, but it would be nice to have a fix before then.
