how do I connect to my apple Ipad?

Specs: Windows 7
I cannot get connected to my apple I pad. I used the password on the router but I keep getting a message "unable to join". How do I get connected. Your book says to get on your site for instructions for apple I-pad

There are several settings that could be effecting your connection. I am assuming that your Wi-Fi radio is turned on. From there it will make a difference which type of connection that you are using. WEP WPA or WPA(2) It should say on your wireless device as to which the key is for, I would guess that it is a wpa or wpa2 (you may want to try both). Check for 0 to O, l to I, B to 8 and the like as well. Though normally they are capital letters, I would assume there are variances between manufacturers. The second thing to try is a reset(on your idevice, hold the top button until it says slide to off, then power off and then back on.

On an iPad there is a setting in the General button/area that includes wifi. On my iPad 2 it's the second item in the list - below "Airport Mode". Is the wifi set to on or off?

It must be on to connect to any router (via normal wifi).

To clarify a little more...

When you "open" the wifi option you will see a list:


on or off - and must be "on"

Choose a network

- at which point you need to know which router is yours; and the password to use to connect to it.

Ask to Join Networks

- is on (I think it is by default but regardless set it to "on")

Then provided you have entered the correct password "for access to the router… " you're in and on the web?

No need of worrying abut WPA WEP etc.. - as long as you have selected the correct router - and password… it all "ought" to work.

Password is case sensitive - i.e. it can use (and recognise) upper and lower case characters...

is a sort of basic how to trouble shoot from Apple… May be useful if the above doesn't work for you?

His point 4 may resolve it to; and possibly point 5 as well. Try point 4 first - on its own. I'm not immediately inclined to point 3 at this stage; and wouldn't advise a firmware update either… Unless for whatever reason it is required (and I doubt that is the case here).

Need more help - post back - and please include which model iPad is it and which version of IOS?
