You can't transfer files from an iPad to a memory stick. You will either need to backup your iPad using iTunes, or you can use an online storage service like Dropbox.

A lot of people don't know this, but to have your iPad show up as a drive on your computer, just remove your passcode from the iPad before you plug it into your comptuer, then you can remove pictures and video with ease.

I thank you all very much for the great help!
Margarete made a simple & best point. After connecting the Ipad to the PC, some of the files, photos & movies, were imported by default through Windows.
Some other large files, taken with iflimic app., couldn't be transferred until I moved them first, piece by piece, into ipad's camera roll, then windows took care easily.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

P.S. Now, of course, I have Itunes, finally.Too many tools (yes, I do have the dropbox, but afraid to use it, from the very moment I installed it) in the hands of 3 left handers, like me. The great surprise came from AVG, when, with the first level technical support man, couldn't make my PC spic 'n span.Another team, of second level, will try to help me these coming days to get rid of all the animals and elfs here present.

You may try to transfer iPad files using iTunes application, though it is an efficient application but in some unexpected situations shows error while transferring iPad files. In this case best solution is to use file transfer iPad software.
