Solved Faulty iPhone6 power socket

May 26, 2020 at 03:29:45
Specs: Ios 12, 64gb
The power socket of my iPhone6 is faulty such that when I insert the power cable most of the time it doesn't start the charging process (the green charging indicator stays white).

If I jiggle the cable it sometimes engages but then disconnects. It isn't a faulty cable as I have tried charging with several cables.

Is this something that can be fixed or do I have to replace the phone.

My main concern is for accessing my photos.

I would appreciate what help I can get. Thank you

Whilst you can - transfer photos and anything else valuable (contacts included) off the phone. Either back up via iTunes - to iCloud "and" a computer. Even if you have to try several time go for it.

There is another app. to the allow backups etc. to a computer - which personally I prefer having used itmany times.

There is also a way to save contacts via email; but I'd have to dig around to find the how to. Possibly others here can/will advise on that?

The onboard socket might be replaceable/repairable; but likely Apple would suggest a replacement phone - for a whatever sum?

Also try blowing out the socket with canned air; in-case there is a bit muck stuck in there?

As trvlr suggested, there might be sort of gunk in the port. Take a toothpick and gently dig around in the port to loosen anything that might be stuck in there.

Both respondents gave very helpful and similar responses but I can't choose both.

Yes thank you. Toothpick worked a treat followed by blowing with a cannister of air
