Desperate for IPad Email advice

Specs: Windows XP
I bought my husband an IPad for Xmas and I still cannot get the email working. We have a POP email and he already has it working on his Iphone and has been for a year. However when I try to set up the same email on the IPad so that he can read emails on either the phone or Ipad only one will work. If I get the IPad working the IPhone email stops and says cannot get mail, and vice versa. I have spent hours on this and taken out the apple tech support and apple don;t know the answer. They said it will never work and the Ipad is not designed to work with POP email. They told me I would be better with a blackberry for emails and that the IPhone POP email only works because it has a bug, and that it shouldn't work with POP email as they are not designed too, yet Apple clearly market it for POP emails. Any help is much appreciated.

I use both an iPad and an iPod touch for a POP email account, and I have no problem accessing emails. I do have another email account(which is POP)) which has to be set as an IMAP account to get it to work on the iPad or iPod touch. There might be some settings for your specific account about leaving mail on the server-or perhaps you need to check some of the settings on the iPad.

Thanks for your reply, but I have tried to change it to IMAP and it won't accept the account unless I keep it as POP. I also contacted my email provider to check that I had all the settings and server information correct and they confirmed that everything is correct and that the email would work on multiple devices, but still nothing it working. Anything else you can think of would be much appreciated as Apple tell me POP email is not designed to work, but it must as you confirm it does. I can see my having to give up I have spent 8 hours trying today alone and I have been trying for a month nearly now.

Have you spoken to only one person from Apple ? I agree that the comment that POP email is not designed to work is incorrect. You might want to try ipad forum . Let us know if you get it resolved.
