Dell has announced that their smartphone/tablet hybrid called the Dell Streak is going on pre-sale, aimed at cutting into the iPhone/iPad arena. The Streak costs about $100 more than an iPhone, is half the size of an iPad and about $50 more than the cheapest unlocked iPad out there.
Don't know if having the tablet functionality and convenience with a phone is worth getting a device that doesn't do either job well. Thoughts?
Not taking into consideration anything but the size I wonder how does it feels to carry this device in your pockets and because of this where would someone be comfortable using it. Sure the 5' screen size is a welcome, although 800 x 450 is not high these days, but as a phone is big. It looks more like a bigger smartphone and not so much like a tablet. It doesn't look fancy nor business class, but is not cheap also. I see mostly students using it but it remains to be seeing if Apple produces a smaller iPad how will they compete. It is a valid option and I think it will find adopters but how many as it lacks a clear direction which could be a serious selling disadvantage.
