Solved Can't get updates to work on apps that previously worked

September 26, 2013 at 15:11:27
Specs: iOS.7
After clicking on some new updates of previously downloaded apps, the apps went dark and underneath each one it said"waiting" but nothing more happened. I have tried to delete the apps so I could re-install them but it won't let me delete them. A couple of these are ones that I need every day. Suggestions?

And why does my mail button have to show me I have 5,096 emails instead of just indicating a new email has come thru? It's really annoying!

Try tapping on one of the apps that say waiting, it should change to paused, then tap on it again. Sometimes that will start them downloading when they are stuck in waiting mode.

On the email issue, this has come up a couple of times (particularly from Google). Supposedly the only fix is to sign in and mark all as read, it is possible from you Idevice, however using the gmail interface is probably faster. Otherwise you will download all of the old emails. Probably why you are unable to get the apps too, if it is trying to download all 5000 of the old emails.

Doing a hard reboot fixed my problem...pressing the sleep and home button at the same time, holding down for several seconds. Very simple fix - just never had to do before. Thanks for the help!
