Cannot open wi-fi network

Specs: Windows XP, 1000
I have 2 wi-fi network accounts on my Ipad 3 but when I try to open the one that I normally use it asks for a password and no password that I thought I had installed works. It gets "dismissed". I need to erase the one account and activate the other, or erase both and start afresh. What is the best option?

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Using a wired connection to the router, go into your router's configuration utility for the network that doesn't work. In the wireless section of the router's configuration utility you will see the wireless key (password).
Write it down carefully, remembering that it's case sensitive.

Close the router config utility.
Enter that same wireless key on your iPad.

Hi Phill. I have 2 sets of figures/letters at the bottom of my router. 00300A96372E and the next one reads: mac: 00:30:0A:96:37:2E. Could one of these be the correct password as well or not? Where exactly do I connect the wire at the back of the router? The cable I got with the Ipad can only connect to the Ipad and the other end is a USB type connector. Now my router does not have a USB type female adapter. Maybe what you mean is that I go into the router's configuration via my desktop computer. How do I do that?
