There seems to be an inherent problem with the headphone jack on the iPhones. The headphone jack can also accept a microphone. When you plug in headphones or a microphone, there is a switch on the jack that changes from internal speakers/microphone to external. Sometimes dirt or lint can interfere with this switch. Take your headphones and plug, then unplug them into the jack 10 or so times. Then try it again.

I had success with removing the app (to remove an app hold your finger on one and they shake let go and tap the one you want to remove) and reinstalling it again also was able to clear tabs this way, but it took several hours installing (but doesn't disable the rest of the phone during this).
Cheers Mick
