What kind of Modem is this, broadband or dial up?

How is it connected, Ethernet, USB or serial?

Is it internal or external?

Better still, just give us the model number of the modem.

Answer these questions and somebody might be able to help you.

It is the same modem that was in the Dell XPS 400 when I purchased it new about 6 years ago. It is internal and has worked until my brother got his hands on it while I was out of the country serving in the Air Force, It is dial up. I don't know the model but it is the modem that comes with the XPS 400, Internal. That is all I can tell you.

Its an internal 56k dial up modem. In that case you need to go into the Device Manager and check that it is there. If there is a yellow question mark next to the Modem you will need to re-install the drivers.

The drivers should be on the CD that came with the computer. If you no longer have the CD then you should be able to download them from Dell.
