XP recovery disk doesn't recognize netbook HD

Specs: Windows XP, N270/1GB
HP Compaq mini 110 netbook was in boot loop between startup and screen with F9/F10 options(change boot order or Bios setup). Formatted hard drive, changed boot order to use USB DVD Drive. Booted with XP recovery disk. Windows does not recognize hard drive. Stuck. Is MBR corrupt? tech friend created a new MBR and did not resolve the issue. No more boot loop, but! any help?

The problem has nothing to do with the MBR, it's that XP doesn't natively support SATA hard drives. To reinstall XP, you'll have to do one of 3 things:

1. go into the BIOS & change the controller setting to IDE compatibility mode. After XP is installed, install the SATA drivers, then change the controller setting back to SATA modem again.

2. load the SATA drivers at the very beginning of the XP installation by pressing F6, then installing the drivers from a floppy or USB device (if supported)

3. create an all new XP disk with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it.
