Solved wrong size screws went through the top of the speaker

September 21, 2012 at 06:26:06
Specs: Windows 7
For a HP PAVILIONDV6T-6100NOTEBOOK. I took the casing off to replace keyboard. After taking the battery out I took out the screws behind the battery that attach the speakers. But when I put them back I used the wrong screws, they were longer and drilled right through the speaker metal on the top of the laptop. I was trying to figure out if this is a fire/electical hazard or not. The CPU came back on and the audio worked with no issue.

If I hear you correctly then I don't think there is an issue. Did you fix the screws to the correct place?

If you did screw into the speaker metal, then there is no issue. The metal is a frame for the speaker cone or coil.

If you in any way unsure then take it to some professional to get a better opinion.
