Would like your tower recommendations

Specs: Windows 10 Pro, 32
Hello,

Im looking to purchase a desktop tower that would be relatively inexpensive that would allow me to use a minimum 4k monitor with it.

I would be using it for Photoshop and Lightroom with fairly large RAW files (1-2GB).

Expandability would be preferred as well.

If you could give me a recommendation I would greatly appreciate it and thanks in advance for your time and expertise!

best to you,

Rick

Do you have the ability to build your own? It's almost always the better route to take. If not, we need a little more to go on. I presume a Windows desktop rather than Mac? How much are you willing to spend? AMD or Intel processor?

Hi riider,

Thanks so much for your input!

I think I could build my own as I have changed components out before on my Mac computers, but I really would rather buy one that is ready to go.

I use Mac computers on a daily basis and am invested in the Ecosystem. However, for business reasons we need to buy a Windows machine and I would like to be able to use it for Photoshop and Lightroom as well for logistical reasons.

Our budget is around $1000. We aren't looking for anything spectacular, just something that will run Photoshop and Lightroom reasonably well if possible.

I don't know which type of processor would be better for photo editing, so that is something I am open to.

Thanks again for helping me. This is invaluable information and makes my decision much easier.

take care,

Rick

Look for 8th generation Intel i5 processor, motherboard with 300series Intel chipset, 16GB or more RAM DDR4 (slightly faster is better but not critical and the price climbs after a certain point, I think 3000MHz is probably optimal but a little slower will still work. More RAM is more important) Graphics card with NVidia GTX1050Ti or higher, PCIe 4x SSD (Samsung or Western Digital Black) for Windows and programs 240GB to 500GB with a fast hard drive 1TB or larger for storage (WD Black series preferred), and a good quality power supply 80% or higher certified efficiency. Custom Built by you or someone you trust.
More detailed recommendations if you like.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
