won't come on

Specs: Windows XP pro, 128 mb ram
Thanks guys in advance, i have a dell optiplex GX1 desktop that won't come on. i bought a new psu and put it in but pc still won't boot. i beleve that thunderstorm run in on it. i am wondering if maybe mb is shot. the led lights are on but cannot turn off without unplugging the pc. i hooked up speaker and took out memory but pc did not beep. i took out pc-i modem and tryed to move memory over to next memory slot but to no avail. this is older pc. sure could use some help. thanks. has 128 mb ram, 40 gb hdd.

If it went out during a thunderstorm, chances are you had a surge due to lightning etc. If you changed the PSU and it still doesn't respond, chances are it fried other components.

I agree with grasshopper. That said, there is a good chance the hard drive is still OK. You can connect it as a slave on another computer in order to access your personal files. Don't try to boot to it though.

thanks guys, yes i did buy a new psu. and as much as i would agree with you alls anwsers, i would like to know weather or not the mb is fried or what other componets do you think would have fried? i put the new psu in, however the symtoms are the same. both the old and new psu's are acting the same. could have the power surge bypassed the psu and went somewhere else? or could have the new psu been bad as well?could have i read my psu tester wrong? it is a new tester.
