Won't boot, long beep. Then worked, now not.

Specs: Windows 7
Approx a month ago i turned off the computer and moved it. I then plugged everything in and it would not start, just emitting repeating long beeps. It is a gigabyte motherboard and long beeps supposedly indicate a memory error. A week ago i tried and it started normally, i left it on just letting it go to standby but then it was turned off last night. Now it is back to beeping.I dont understand why it would not work for so long, then randomly work, and now not again.

1.Disconnect the power.
2.Open the case.
3.Remove the ram one stick at a time.
4.Re-insert the ram
5. Repeat 3 & 4 several times.
6. Re-connect the power and test bootup.
If successful put the cover back on the case

I've never used one. Just ground yourself to the metal of the case before handling the ram
