I have an Apple Powerbook 165. I was messing around on it when I moved and the power cord (because the battery is toast and won't run without it) got snagged and came out. The computer shut down and whenever i turn it on now i get the no operating system screen

it's an apple. no one here can help you. your only chance is to take it into the apple store and have them tell you your options.

it sounds like when the power cable got ripped out of the laptop, it may have jarred some internal hardware, including the motherboard, power supply, or hard drive. It's also possible that the sudden loss in power mid-operation resulted in corrupted data on the HDD.

speculation sure is fun. But only the Official Apple Technicians can take it any further than this.

Ok sorry, wrong place to post. I guess im just SOL because that computer is 16 years old and im PRETTY sure Apple wont fix it. i do think the HD got corrupted though now that i think about it because it had the loading sign up when it happened. guess i will have to find system floppy disks then.

i tried to get system 7.5.3 off of there but it is not a regular disk image and the fact that i would have had to make an image off of a windows computer probably wouldnt work good. I did find some 7.5.3 disks off of ebay and i will get them and see how they work.
