Wireless modem operation

Specs: Windows 7
I have a linksys modem and replaced the linksys wireless router with an Asus RT N12 router.

The N12 if working fine with a cable donnection to my desk top. What do I need to do to provide wireless connection to othere computers in the house,

Do they automatically have a connection? Do they need to log on in some manner, need to identify the device on their computer?

Using the linksys router they needed to identify Linksys as the system to connect with it.

Thanks, I appreciate your advice.

Did you setup the wireless network & create a security (WPA or WPA2) password / passphrase? Your wireless devices should automatically detect the wireless signal but won't be able to connect to it unless the security password is entered.

Thanks. I think the system assigned a password when it set it up. I'll give that to a user when they go to log on. Hopefully that will get them loged on. I'm a photographer and use photoshop but don't do a lot of systems stuff. Appreciate the help.

I ended up replacing the Asus router with a refurbished Linksys router. That worked for a day! Ended up replacitng that with a Linksys E2000 and that is working fine.

I've got both cable and wireless connect between my router and desktop.

I thought refrubished would mean good a new but, just recycled through the factory again. I guess it says that refurbished is a level down from new in durability.

I gave this note in a previous response.
