Win.XP files on USB-enlosure HD for Win.7 system?...

Specs: Windows XP, 4GB
I want to use my existing Windows XP hard drive in a USB enclosure which will be used on my new Windows 7 laptop...Can anyone offer the procedure to delete (or keep) which Win XP OS files for the USB enclosur(ed) hard drive?...I thought that there are OS files that can be deleted on the USB hard drive, giving me more usable space, plus it seems there would be issues having two OS's on both drives(???)....

At any rate, if anyone can offer a step-by-step procedure list (for complete idiots) on how to use my existing Win XP laptop drive in a new USB enclosure and keeping only the files I want (versus ALL the files I've accumulated over the last few years) and use it with confidence on my new Win XP pro laptop...IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!....

Back up any data you have on that old HDD 1st to another computer, server or backup HDD. I usually then wipe the drive clean with Darik’s Boot & Nuke via bootable floppy or CD disc (you don’t always have to do this though).

Then take the HDD out of the computer, put it in the USB enclosure, attach it to the computers USB port, go into Windows Control panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management, then in the Disk managemnet window, right click on the attached HDD in the USB enclosure (MAKE SURE sure you have the right one selected), and select Format:

MOOOOooove! OH and you're welcome!

I'd convert it to a virtual machine and run it that way. Use a P2V app. Then you can still use the OS.

If you just want to keep some files then copy what you want to the W7 and then format the usb drive then replace the files only.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
