What drive devices does the BIOS list as being installed? HD? DVD?
Are they installed in this machine or is it a mainboard test?

Periodically I have had that happen when the Hi and low filters for the cd/dvd became corrupt in the registry, you delete them in the registry and the device is recognized. For more specific instructions on that google removing dvd/cd hi and low filters. Doesn't happen often, but does happen. the other options is the drive is m"mod" asks....does the device list in the bios? Ps the registry tinkering is not recommended for novices.
