Specs: Windows 7
hello :) i can't figure out how to access the built it webcam on my sony vaio laptop. i read on another forum that win7 screws it up...? any way i can get to it so i can video chat?

it's a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ61VN Laptop to be exact.
and i have unplugged it/restarted it. the battery doesn't work on it so i have to keep it plugged in at all times.
the program i'm trying to use with the webcam is oovoo, but i don't even know how to get to the webcam at all.

thank you C:

did the laptop come from Sony with Win7 on it, or did you reinstall it over a Vista installation or something?

either way, you need to make sure that the Sony drivers for the webcam have been downloaded from Sony's website and installed on the laptop. Software alone is not enough to use hardware, you need drivers so the OS knows how to talk to the hardware.

This is a huge pain in the ass because there are no yellow triangles, etc, but HERE IS THE ANSWER.

1. Unistall the video camera.
2. Go to the Sony Website, and install SONY VISUAL COMMUNICATION CAMERA VGP-VCCxxx whatever Driver using VISTA.
3. Save it somewhere, and right click on the image.
4. On Properties, change the Compatability mode to Vista.
5. Run the driver program.
6. Reboot.

Should work.
