Specs: Windows XP
I'm trying to install Windows XP Home on wiped harddrive there is no O/S on it.It will load to the splash screen and freezes.It's an emachines W2925 cpu 2.66GHz 120 hdd 256 ram.I have tried a hdd with windows all ready on it.Still freezes on splash screen.Help!

Don't waste your time with XP until you get more RAM.

Installing a hard drive from another computer is sure to fail unless the hardware, including processor, chipset, bridges, etc. are very similar WILL result in a no boot situation. This is by Microsoft design. One computer per copy of XP.

Why aren't you just restoring the veersion of WinXP that came on the eMachines to start?

There could be some hardware problem unrelated to the install attempts that's causing it to freeze. Was XP previously working OK on that drive and computer?
