It's not possible to connect an external power source to it. Your problem may be that your computer's PSU may not be powerful enough. You need a minimum 500-watts PSU for a single Radeon HD3450 card (750-watts when using a dual GPU for CrossFire).

If existing PSU already meets that requirement, check that the card is properly seated in the PCI Express slot.

The Radeon HD 3450 is an older low end model. It has only 40 stream processors & uses 64-bit memory. It requires a minimum 250W PSU, not 500W. See 'system requirements': http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...

Are you sure the monitor's not the problem?
