The card may work if u don't have many components drawing power from weak 280W unit.
Why the old 9600GT? There are v-cards which draw less power and perform better than the old 9600GT like HD 5670.

Chances are very good the 9600GT won't work with your low wattage power supply. The card consumes approx 95W under full load. Does your PSU even have a 6-pin PCIe plug?? The card requires it & won't work without it. And I belive the minimum PSU recommendation is 350W with 18A on the +12v rail, but I've seen others at 450W with 24A minimum. Do you have the money for a PSU upgrade?

Your choices are old video card + PSU upgrade or new video card + no PSU upgrade (if you choose the right card).

yeah i am thinking to upgrade my psu too to 400 watt to avoid risk of damaging my pc components and i think psu is also not very expensive but the real thing is that my pc is a branded PC and i am a pakistani so there would be a low chance of getting the power supply for my pc lets see what happens!!!
