Only 3 volts? That's not enough to power a laptop. It should be around 19 volts.

Hi Phil thanks for your answer but different parts on the motherboard differ in value
from 3v to 5v 10v an L.E.D. wont take that much, I really want to know if there`s voltage there why is the lamp out is the bulb not working you say so how can I test the bulb.?

Phil, He's testing the voltage at the power LED, it's not going to be 19 volts, 3 volts sounds about normal.

Brian, are you saying the laptop powers up just fine but the power LED isn't lighting up?

Hi THX1138 to e quite honest I don't know where to go next can you unsolder and fit a new bulb in case its very tiny. Will the heat blow a new bulb reading between the line I think the mobo has gone it requires an hr in the oven haha. Ive ordered a cheap mobo untested probably faulty if it lights up I`m in with a chance. I`ll keep you posted thanks for your reply brianburnett57.
