Solved why is this message showing on the screen non

Specs: Windowsxp, 248mb ram
please could you tell me WHY is this message showing on the screen non system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready?

And prior to this it was working OK? I mean, we're not dealing with something you picked up at a garage sale are we? And what does "the screen there is no display" mean?

The message you're getting means the disk it's trying to boot from doesn't have system files on it. It could be something as simple as you leaving a disk in your floppy drive. Or it could mean your hard drive has failed, is corrupted or may not even be there..

Go into cmos/bios setup and make sure the hard drive is being detected. And you may want to open the case and make sure the hard drive cable is in good condition and tightly connected.

Also make sure you don't have a CD in the CD-drive---usually Windows will ignore them, but I've seen cases where it doesn't. Otherwise, if what DAVE mentions about not finding the drive in BIOS (after you've checked all cables and connections), then there's a strong possibility your hard-drive is (or is almost nearly) dead...
